While everybody is high fiving and congratulating themselves for reclaiming ‘nerd’ and ‘geek’ from their high school oppressors, In the Dark are forging ahead. Fighting another battle in the war of liberating mildly insulting epithets from bondage and giving them back to the brave warriors who have suffered their slings and arrows.

So. Sissys: you’re up. At the preview, though it was less a preview and more a benediction, The Undisputed Queen of Sissy Bounce, The Queen Diva herself, Big Freedia gave her blessings and inaugurated proceedings. And now that the head sissys have found their footing, lost it because come on look at those heels, then found it again, they are proud to present New York City’s own DJ Nita at the official launch.

Nita cut his performing and DJing teeth in Kevin Aviance’s legendary House of Aviance. Which is like your high school physics teacher casually mentioning that he studied under Einstein. A very gay, black, transgendered Einstein. Nita’s sets actually deserve all the breathless superlatives that have been ascribed to them. Dense, house-inflected epics that display the attention span of a hummingbird with ADHD. All on three decks, no less. He’ll be ably assisted by locals Sveta and DJ Booth.

There it is, Sissys. It’s all up to you now. And watch out milquetoasts. You’re next.
